WHAT’S ON AT THE NATIONAL PARALYMPIC HERITAGE CENTRE THIS MONTH
We have some exciting events coming up in September, and we’d love for you to join us!
MEET THE PARALYMPIAN: JUSTINE MOORE
Thursday 14th September, 1pm
Paralympic Fencer Justine Moore is joining us for our latest online Meet the Paralympian event. This is your chance to hear her empowering journey firsthand; from competing in London in 2012 aged only 20, just 7 years after an accident left her unable to walk. This promises to be a fascinating insight into Justine’s journey to London 2012 and also her plans to represent Great
Britain once again at the Paris 2024 Paralympic Games.
This event is aimed at those aged 18+ and is great for anyone looking for lunchtime inspiration. Registration is FREE, find out more on our website:

Through banners and stories, learn more about the 1948 Games, the role of the National Spinal Injuries Centre, and how the community were
key to the success of the early Games. You can also take a virtual tour of our Heritage Centre and 3D virtual museum, and be one of the first to download our new heritage trail app!

SPORTING HERITAGE DAY
Saturday 30th September
We’re inviting you to a unique opportunity to see the beautiful coat worn by Sir Ian McKellen at the Opening Ceremony of the London 2012 Paralympic Games. It has been on display in our Heritage Centre since opening, but due to its fragility, it will now be placed in storage for its conservation.
We’d like to celebrate this important sporting heritage piece by welcoming the local community to visit for a ‘last chance’ to see the coat before it is put away. As well as this, you will have the
opportunity to view what will replace this piece in our display. Drop into the Heritage Centre at any time between 10am and 2pm!
