Get On Your Bike!

On a sunny Sunday 12 June 700 cyclists took part in the 2022 Bucks Radio Tour de Vale in support of WheelPower, the national charity for wheelchair sport.

After completing one of three routes across Buckinghamshire and Oxfordshire the cyclists were presented with medals by Paralympics GB rower Ben Pritchard and given massages
by students from Bucks New University. After the ride was over Ben said, “Thank you for getting on your bikes at the Tour de Vale this year raising money for charity. I am testament to the work of WheelPower and the opportunities they provide. The money raised today will give more people the opportunity to know that life hasn’t stopped after an accident. It genuinely makes a difference.”

Martin McElhatton, WheelPower CEO, spoke of how much he values the love people have for WheelPower. “I would like to thank the local community, our sponsors and all of our fantastic volunteers who make the Tour de Vale so special. The money raised will help us to put on new events for adults and children that will help us transform many more lives through sport and activity.

To have such an inclusive event raising money for WheelPower is fantastic and we are so grateful for their generosity and support.” Nathan Cooper of Bucks Radio added, “Ben’s own story is an illustration of how lifechanging the work of the charity is. Seeing so many people of all ages and backgrounds coming together on the day to support WheelPower, the anticipation and sense of pride on the start line plus the relief of completion was very special. Thank you to all who took part and those who helped organise it.”
