Even though I’m writing this in beautiful sunshine I’m always looking ahead to autumn and winter in the garden. This year I’d really like to focus on growing some vegetables in
my garden. Even if you only have a small garden veg can easily be grown in pots.
Kale will grow perfectly well in a container as long as the compost is right and there is suffi cient space for them to mature. Your typical cabbage will need to be spaced at a minimum of 30cm apart
and is best sown from late spring to early summer. You can sow maincrop varieties of carrot outdoors from April through to August. Check packet for depth but usually three quarters of an
inch deep.
I’ve seen some great growing non-woven Breathable Growing Sacks out there which I may try but I’m sure most deep pots will be ok… I’m new to this, but hey, let’s try it… nothing ventured, nothing gained.
