Some years before he became US President Donald Trump was asked, “What would you do if you lost everything?” His tongue in cheek reply was, “Join Avon.”

I don’t know how sincere he was in that response but one thing I do know about it is that Trump understands that money follows rules and he uses those rules to his advantage.

One of the easiest ways to learn some of the money rules is to play the board game Cash Flow. I first played it about 15 years ago with a friend in Oxford. Now I’m going to be replaying it here at home.

I’ve learned that if one plays it often and frequently with friends, thinking about the experience of one’s feelings about money, you do uncover the blocks you have around money.

You see, most of us grow up with ingrained false beliefs about money. Among the most common is “money is the root of all evil.” But money is just a tool, like a spade or a fork. An inanimate object can’t be evil because it doesn’t have the capacity to think. It’s the intent of the person using the money, the tool, the gun or the knife that is evil.

Learning Cash Flow does take time but if you regard it as an investment in yourself and your future you can become a millionaire, if you want to. On the other hand, if just having the income to live comfortably and contribute to others is what you want to do then you could do that too. It’s all about learning the rules of money. It’s your choice, learn the rules or stay poor!
