At the time of writing (mid Oct ) there seems to be plenty of colour still in the garden but I’m assured the frosts are on their way. Time to cut back those perennials and mulch the borders. Unless that is they have berries on them because these have become my latest plant addiction.

Look at the gorgeous pyracanthys berries. The Hypericum has many varieties, Miracle, Pistache, Blossom, Blitz etc. The hardy perennial Gaultheria is looking very berry and I’m hoping they’ll still be looking good in December… looking good with snow on them maybe?

Sheds … the bane of your life or a place to enjoy?

Do you long for somewhere to potter but can’t find the space? Are you a budding artist needing a place to paint? You may already have that place but haven’t looked at it that way before.

Has your shed become the focal point for everyone else’s belongings? Does this sound familiar… the children left home… their possessions cluttering what could be your HAPPY place?

Maybe your loved one has passed away and the tools which they so lovingly spent hours with are left untouched. It’s sometimes hard to know where to start.

In my case I love nothing more than a good sort out. I’ve spent a while transforming my very, very cluttered shed into a place I can now enjoy and pot up my plants in.

The hardest part was starting because I knew it would take a while. Coffee breaks were essential!

I started boxing everything up and stacking the boxes to maximise space. Then I sorted each box into smaller boxes, keeping the things I really wanted to keep and then utilised any hooks, string or bungy clips I had. I’ve got so many ideas for mine… watch this space!

With Winter approaching it’s a good time to start clearing out the old pots and rubbish to make way for the new. We have already tided greenhouses, sheds and garages and we will be there throughout Winter to help you if you need us.
